About Wildwood

Wildwood’s beaches are famously wide and famously free, and its boardwalk packs in piers, water parks and doo-wop neon. Families come back to the same blocks every summer. Rentals cluster near the boardwalk and the quieter Crest, from classic motel-style condos to big multi-family houses.

Wildwood FAQ

Are Wildwood beaches really free?

Yes - the Wildwoods are among the few Jersey Shore towns with no beach tags. The trade-off is the beach is enormous: from the boardwalk to the waterline can be a quarter-mile walk, so pack light or bring a wagon.

Where should families stay in Wildwood?

Near the boardwalk (roughly Cedar to Montgomery) puts the piers within a short walk, which matters with young kids at night. Wildwood Crest, south of the boardwalk zone, is noticeably quieter and has calmer guarded beaches - most repeat families end up there.

How does parking work for Wildwood rentals?

Street parking is metered and genuinely hard in July and August, so a rental with off-street parking is worth real money. If your listing includes two spaces, that is the amenity locals would pay for first.

When do the boardwalk and piers open?

The boardwalk itself is open year-round, but the amusement piers run weekends from Easter and daily from mid-June through Labor Day, then weekends again into October. Waterparks run mid-June to early September.
